Nicolet Forensics Honors Founders and Future Leaders at Annual Induction
The Nicolet forensics team was proud to celebrate the success of both individuals and the team by inducting new members into the National Speech and Debate Association Alex Avery delivered their impressive farrago piece at the event as a snapshot of the individual successes the team had this year.
The Baldwin Legacy
The evening’s most poignant moment was the announcement of the Lilith Baldwin Legacy Award. The honor is named for graduating senior Lilith Baldwin, who took the initiative to start the Nicolet Forensics team during her freshman year. To honor her impact, the award will be presented annually to a student who demonstrates Baldwin’s signature spirit of innovation by bringing new, successfully implemented ideas to the program.
A New Generation of Leadership
As the team looks toward the 2026/2027 season, the student leadership team was recognized for their stewardship over the past year. Elena Johansen, Maya Khayat, and Jackson Bruggeman will continue to lead the team next year as executives. They will be supported by a newly appointed team of Operations Leaders: Maiella Avalos, Alex Avery, Ruby Gruen, and Noah Burns.
NSDA Honor Society Inductions
A central part of the ceremony was the formal induction of students into the National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA) Honor Society. Membership is a significant achievement, requiring students to earn a specific threshold of service points through competition and community contribution.
The 2026 New Inductees include:
Maiella Avalos, Alex Avery, Landon Caler, Ava Carroll, Noah Burns, Caleb Conteras Trent, Norah Goetz, Ruby Gruen, James Hinchey, Stephanie Neely, Alia Reuter, David Smanz-Geier
Season Award Recipients
In addition to the new inductees, the following students were recognized for their outstanding contributions and performance throughout the forensics season:, Elena Johansen, Maya Khayat, Rishi Bhogavilli, Jackson Bruggeman, Noah Burns, Anaiya Deacon and Logan McMahon. In addition, the James Powered Legacy Award was given out for the first time to James Hinchey to celebrate a competitor's success in his first ever forensics competition.
In addition to the NSDA induction, all members were recognized with creative "duck awards" in the InDUCKtion celebration that celebrated the individual talents and personalities of each member.
To end the celebration, the entire team and coaches celebrated and recognized the efforts of Ms. Winkler for the Nicolet forensics program as this was set to be her last year as a part of the program.
Congratulations on a great season to the Nicolet forensics team❗

Nicolet senior Sienna Clarke has been named a Congress-Bundestag Vocational Scholar for the 2026-27 school year 👏
This program offers graduating high school seniors the opportunity to spend their 13th year abroad living with a German host family, participating in a training or school program, and gaining work experience through internships with German companies. CBYX scholars also serve as youth ambassadors for the United States, sharing our culture with Germans and bringing ideas from the German culture back to their home communities. Other highlights are the midyear seminar in Weimar and the culminating Berlin seminar, where students meet with members of the German parliament.
In addition to German interest and ability, CBYX winners need to be well-rounded individuals with strong communication skills and intercultural awareness. The Vocational CBYX is highly selective; only 25 students nationally are chosen. Sienna’s selection is an affirmation of the academic and co-curricular programs at Nicolet. She has participated in all facets of our German program and in 2024 she was awarded the Joachim Herz Foundation Scholarship. Sienna has also made significant contributions to our theater, instrumental music and yearbook, and is on the media youth team for her faith community, the Divine Temple Church of the First Born. She hopes to intern with either a theater or with a print/digital media company.
Initiated in 1983, the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange program was created to strengthen ties between Germany and the United States. CBYX is jointly funded by the U.S. Congress and the German Bundestag, and is overseen in the U.S. by the State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Sienna is the 20th Nicolet German student to be selected for this program since 2003. Natek Meinhardt is currently studying in the Hanseatic city of Greifswald in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
