Attendance Procedures
A parent of a student who is absent shall provide either a written or oral notification stating the reason for and the time period of the absence (Policy 5200 - Attendance). Nicolet’s policy for excusing absences is as follows: Parents/guardians should notify the school in advance of their student’s anticipated school absence(s). Parent/guardian notifications must be made within two (2) school days of the absence . Please make note of the following to ensure your child’s absence is excused in a timely manner. The District reserves the right to verify statements and investigate absences from school.
To excuse any absence, the school must receive one of the following stating the reason for the absence (see list of excusable reasons below).
a phone call to the attendance hotline: 414-351-8282
an email to attendance@nicolet.us
a written, signed, note from parent
a fax to 414-351-7526
Early Dismissal
Students requiring early dismissal must have a parent/guardian notify the school as indicated above.
Students and teachers will be notified by email that a student has permission to leave early.
Students will stop at the attendance window to sign out.
If a student does not receive an email and needs to leave early, they should request a pass to the attendance window.
Parents do NOT need to come into school to sign out students.
If the student returns to school that same day, he/she will check in upon return.
Calls received by the school from a parent/guardian after a student has already left the building may not be considered excused and disciplinary measures may occur. Leaving school without prior permission is considered unexcused/truant.
Pre-Arranged Absence
There are circumstances that may require a student’s absence from school for an extended period of time. When a planned absence has been scheduled during the school year, students need to complete a Pre-Arranged Absence Form. Forms are available in the high school office. The form will need to be filled out and submitted one week prior to the absence. Parents are not encouraged to take their child out of school for vacations.
