In November 2019, the District began the process of examining future facility and operations needs so that we can effectively maximize available resources and make informed, strategic decisions. The Nicolet School Board is guided by the following vision statement as we explore long-term solutions:
Nicolet High School strives to accelerate the achievement of every student. We believe our facilities should enhance learning and improve academic performance by:
- Providing a safe, well maintained, sustainable and welcoming environment that promotes student and staff wellbeing
- Promoting a culture of inclusion, school pride and community partnership
- Creating flexible spaces that support student and staff collaboration
- Ensuring opportunities for community education and recreation
Nicolet is working with experienced partners in Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA) and J.H. Findorff & Son (Findorff) to assess the current functionality and condition of our facilities and plan strategically for any long-range facility needs. EUA and Findorff have helped dozens of local and regional school districts – including Maple Dale Indian Hill, Fox Point-Bayside, and Shorewood evaluate and plan strategically for their school facilities.
Architects from EUA and their consulting engineers have toured Nicolet to learn about the current condition of the building and its mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other systems. The assessment also evaluates how well the building serves the current and potential future instructional needs of our students and teachers and how efficiently existing space is being used.
Staff, students and community members will have several opportunities to provide important feedback as part of EUA’s assessment and master planning process. The findings of the facilities assessment were presented to the School Board on May 7, 2020. A hard copy of the report is also available here.
Please know the District is committed to a transparent process and will continue to share more information as it’s available. In the meantime, Superintendent Dr. Kabara would love to connect with you should you have any questions, please email him at greg.kabara@nicolet.us
